Events

If you would like e-mail reminders of upcoming events during the course of the year, please e-mail me at bradmcmillan@pga.com and I will get you on our list. For those of you that are new to Hartford Golf Club this year, and for those who have forgotten this is the event schedule for the 2008 golf season.

May

• Summer Cup begins—This is a two man best ball.  Choose your own partner, single elimination.  Event continues throughout the year until only one team is remaining.
• 2nd Member/Guest—Your guests will not pay a greens fee, but you and your guests will each pay $15.00, $10.00 of which will come back to you in the form of a gift certificate to be used for food or drinks.  The rest will go into prizes for events on the golf course.
• 10th World Series of Golf—Pick your own partner, Men’s and Ladies’ Divisions.  Pick your own partner for a 3 part tournament, 6 holes best ball, 6 holes alternate shot, and 6 holes scramble.

June

• 5th Founder’s Day—Our premier men’s event of the year.  You will be placed on teams of 5, four amateurs and one golf professional from around the state.  You will compete in a two best ball of the five, with dinner to follow.
• 8th Couples Scramble—You will sign up with another couple and the four of you will scramble, dinner to follow
• 28th Optic Ball—Men’s and Ladies Divisions.  You will sign up with a partner.     The two of you will play a best ball with a twist, there will be two different flags on every hole, and you may play to either flag to make your lowest score.

July

• 9th Golden Girl—Our premier ladies event of the year.  All lady members of Hartford Golf Club, as well as their guests are invited to play on this very fun day.  Lunch follows golf.
• 13th Divorce Open—You and your significant other (you don’t need to be married to play in this one) will play 18 holes of alternate shot, dinner to follow.
• 26th Bachelor/Bachelorette Open—Men’s and Ladies divisions.  Sign up to play two person best balls with as many different people as you would like.  After the golf there will be a steak dinner and dancing to live music.

August

• 1st,2nd, and 3rd Ladies Club Championship—Championship flight will play all three days.  The other flights will play on Sat. and Sun. only.  All Hartford Lady Members are eligible to play.
• 8th Senior Club Championship—Men’s and Ladies Divisions.  Gross and Net events are held in two different age groups, please join us for complimentary appetizers after the golf.
• 10th Husband and Wife Championship—You and your spouse will play 18 holes, your score will be added to his/hers and then your handicap will be subtracted.  Lowest total wins the trophy.
• 16th and 17th Men’s C and D Flight Club Championship.
• 23rd and 24th Men’s A and B Flight Club Championship
• 31st AA and Championship Flight Club Championship.

September

• 1st and 2nd AA and Championship Flight Club Championship
• 6th and 7th Hartford Ryder Cup—Open to both men and women.  During this fun two day event you will be split into two teams by handicap.  This first day you and a partner will play two 9 hole matches, one at alternate shot, the other at better ball.  On the second day you will play an 18 hole singles match. 
• 11th Men’s Day Scramble—sign up your own team and go low.
• 12th Member/Guest—Your guests will not pay a greens fee, but you and your guests will each pay $15.00, $10.00 of which will come back to you in the form of a gift certificate to be used for food or drinks.  The rest will go into prizes for events on the golf course.
• 14th Mixed Scramble Couples Event—Sign up and you will be paired by the pro-shop into mixed up teams.
• 25th Final Men’s Night—Blind bogey prizes will be distributed after golf.

October

• 1st Ladies Hole in One Dinner—All members of the ladies hole in one club may attend.
• 2nd Men’s Hole in One Dinner—A pig roast follows golf.  All members of the men’s hole in one club may attend.
• 9th Men’s Member/Guest Scramble—No greens fees for your guests, bring out the ringers and go as low as possible.
