Rule of the Month

We get many questions on the various rules of Golf during the course of the season. I would like to take this opportunity to explain some of the more frequently asked questions.
This month’s question is:

What happens if my ball is under the scoreboard on #18?

For this rule we will apply 24-2.

Immovable Obstructions:

Interference by an immovable obstruction occurs when a ball lies in or on the obstruction, or when the obstruction interferes with the player's stance or the area of his intended swing.  If the ball lies through the green, the player must lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club-length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.  The nearest point of relief must nto be in a hazard or on a putting green.  When the ball is dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, the ball must first strike a part of the course.

This rule applies to cart paths, or any other non movable obstruction on the golf course.

If you have questions about this, or any other rule, please mention it to Bill in the Pro-Shop.
